A new report on porphyry copper deposits has been published in the U.S.
Porphyry Deposits of the Western Hemisphere is a series that analyzes oxide and sulphide porphyry systems and other bulk-tonnage oxide deposits. The first volume looks at deposits in the U.S. and Canada.
The series offers the most current and comprehensive information available for these deposits, according to joint publishers Balfour Holdings and Doppler & Associates.
About 500 porphyry and other bulk-tonnage occurrences have been identified in the U.S. and Canada, representing more than 300 billion lb. copper, 100 million oz. gold and significant amounts of molybdenum, silver and tungsten. Fewer than 10% of Canada’s 300-plus porphyry deposits are in production; in the U.S., fewer than 20% are producing.
