Ponask in Jamaica

An option has been acquired by Lake Ponask Gold which gives the company the right to earn a 50% interest in a property in Jamaica. Known as the Hope mine property, the ground was mined for lead in the 1800s. Known reserves on the property total 200,000 tons grading 5% lead and 6% zinc in addition to gold values, the company says.

In 1972, an anomalous gold zone was discovered near the old mine workings by previous operators. Lake Ponask plans to perform an exploration program starting in January followed by diamond drilling in the spring. Underground sampling of the old mine workings is also planned.
