Situated in the Duluth igneous complex, Northmet hosts 800 million tonnes averaging 0.43% copper and 0.11% nickel, plus 1.5 grams silver, 0.44 gram palladium, 0.12 gram platinum and 0.06 gram gold per tonne. The resource, which is based on 208 drill holes spaced at 60-metre centres, was calculated by BHP Engineering in 1989.
The study is scheduled for completion by the second quarter of 2001.
