The glint of platinum has caught the eye of Heenan Senlac Resources. The junior company has acquired two claim groups in the Lac des Iles area, north of Thunder Bay, Ont.
Lac des Iles has become a primary target for Canadian explorers of platinum as a result of favorable geology which is known to host platinum group metals.
A 30-claim property near Wakinoo Lake has been optioned from Madeleine Mines. The deal requires Senlac to spend $250,000 in order to earn a 60% interest. Madeleine will also receive 100,000 shares of Senlac common shares. Madeleine has been the catalyst behind exploration in the area. The company has an option on the Roby deposit, one of the best undeveloped platinum-palladium deposits in Canada. Plans call for future open pit development.
At Legris Lake, approximately three miles east of the Roby deposit, Senlac has optioned 98 claims from a private company. The claims cover a majority of the Legris Lake intrusive, which is geologically similar to the Lac des Iles intrusive.
Senlac can earn a 95% interest at Legris Lake by spending $150,000 over a two year option period. The company also notes that exploration on both properties is scheduled to start immediately.
