Platinova drills turn in Greenland

At the Peary Land zinc project in Greenland, Platinova A/S (TSE) has begun drilling the Esrum gravity anomaly.

The first hole intersected 70 metres of massive sulphides containing sub-economic quantities of zinc and lead mineralization. Drilling will concentrate on the flanks of the mound.

The anomaly is one of three that define a 4-km-long trend on the company’s Peary Land zinc project in Greenland.

The trend, which remains open to the northwest, also hosts two anomalous mounds of massive sulphides, known as Gossan and Beach.

The former is an 18-metre-thick mound which contains 5 million tons averaging 9% combined lead-zinc. The Beach anomaly is 35 metres thick and hosts 15 million tonnes averaging 8% combined zinc-lead.

Platinova also has concessions in Greenland which the company and its joint venture partner plan to explore for “Voisey Bay-type” nickel-copper-cobalt deposits.
