In the Argentine province of San Juan, Plata Mining (ASE) has launched a 1,400-metre program of reverse-circulation drilling.
The junior’s Hualilian gold property is in an area which has a history of gold production dating back to the mid-1500s.
The focus of Plata’s drill program will be the Cerro Norte mine and the Rajo de Dona Justa target, where the company will test gold-bearing hydrothermal breccia and Mantos deposit targets.
Recent samples taken from hydrothermal breccias at the two projects averaged 8.87 grams gold and 36.2 grams silver per tonne.
The Mantos deposit at Cerro Norte, which has a known strike length of 400 metres, was sampled in the mid-1980s and averaged 10.2 grams gold and 33 grams silver over 2 metres.
