Three gold bars have been poured at the site since February, and recovery in the mill has reached 95%, mine manager Lyall Chapman told The Northern Miner in a telephone interview.
“The mill is running smoothly and we expect to be at 100% production capacity this month,” he said.
More than 20,000 tons of ore are stockpiled on surface and will soon be added to the mill feed. Mine production from underground is proceeding on schedule, Chapman said.
Dona Lake has a planned production rate of 550 tons per day, with gold output in the order of 40,000 oz per year. The cash production cost is budgeted at $225(US) per oz.
Current proven and probable ore reserves are 754,000 tons at an average grade of 0.24 oz gold per ton. In addition, some 1.17 million tons of gold-bearing material at an average grade of 0.17 oz gold is indicated at depth.
The gold occurs in sulphide bearing iron formation. The compact orebody is being mined with blast-hole-stope bulk mining methods.
