A bulk sampling test on a section of the Chaussegros zone of the Gilbert River gold placer project in the Beauce region of Quebec will be undertaken by Macamic Resources (ME).
The company says reverse circulation drilling on the zone during the fall of 1987 and winter of 1988 proved up reserves of 27,837 oz gold. Average depth of bedrock is 82 ft with pay gravel starting at 43 ft below surface.
Exploration to date on 1.8 miles of the 4.2 miles of pre-glacial gravel channel of the deposit has defined reserves of 53,837 oz, of which 27,837 oz are proven and 26,000 oz are drill-indicated.
Macamic says the site selected for the test contains about 6% of the known reserves of the Chaussegros zone. The company expects to recover 2,000 oz from the test, which is planned for the fall of this year and will take seven months to complete. Cost of the bulk test is $1.5 million.
Macamic’s partner in the placer project is Coniagas Mines (TSE).
