Drilling by Noramco Mining Corp. on the company’s Pickle Crow gold property is showing the southwest iron formation unit to be consistent between drill holes. Located near Pickle Lake, Ont., the property includes the former producing Pickle Crow mine.
Some of the better sections from the iron formation include hole 125 which cut 10 ft grading 0.19 oz gold per ton. Hole 136 intersected 22.5 ft assaying 0.19 oz. Another 15 ft assaying 0.21 oz was intersected by hole 137. Drilling from surface tested the zone to a depth of 700 ft.
During the mine’s operating life, extensive drilling was completed between 1,500 ft and 3,800 ft. This work, from underground stations, yielded several rich sections such as 0.43 oz across 18 ft.
The current drill program confirms the presence of several ore grade shoots which extend from surface to a depth of 3,800 ft. These shoots occur as lenses ranging up to 20 ft in thickness. This zone is one of several being examined by Noramco on the property. The company’s objective is to have the property in operation sometime in 1989.
