Rouyn-Noranda, Que.-based Coleraine Mining Resources (CRI-M) has confirmed the presence of two gold-rich zones on the Perron property, 12 km west of Normetal in northwestern Quebec.
The first phase of drilling, now complete, yielded several promising intersections, including: 1.2 metres of 5.53 grams gold per tonne, 0.8 metre of 13.98 grams and 0.4 metre of 10.19 grams in Zone 1; and 2.2 metres of 8.83 grams, 3.9 metres of 12.22 grams, 1.7 metres of 78.14 grams, 0.43 metre of 54.81 grams, 3.3 metres of 0.62 gram and 3.2 metres of 3.04 grams in Zone 3.
In Zone 1, gold is mostly associated with a quartz vein containing pyrite, sphalerite and visible gold. The zone occurs within a sericitized, pyritized rhyolite unit.
In Zone 3, gold is associated with an altered, quartz-injected andesite.
The less auriferous Zone 2 is associated with a biotized andesite and pyritized and quartz-injected iron formations.
Coleraine has begun a second-phase, 8,000-Metre drill program in an attempt to verify the depth extensions of Zones 1 and 3, as well as explore new targets identified by mapping, stripping and geophysical surveys.
The second phase of drilling will include geological, geophysical and soil-geochemical surveys over the entire 840-ha property.
