The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada is offering a 1-ounce maple leaf gold coin worth about US$600 to the overall winner of the e3 Environmental Excellence in Exploration photo contest.
The competition is designed to give e3 more exposure by encouraging photos that meet the principles of the PDAC’s e3 initiative, an Internet-based resource designed to ensure the protection of the environment and community engagement during mineral exploration and mining.
If aspiring photographers don’t win the top prize, there is more gold available. A half-ounce coin will go to the winner of the “technical” category, along with a quarter-ounce coin for second and one-tenth-ounce coin for third. The same three prizes are available in the “artistic” category.
The photos will be judged by PDAC staff and winners will likely be published on the PDAC website. Any PDAC directors, past-presidents, e3 committee members or PDAC staff are not eligible. Each photo should have a caption and arrive with a completed entry form available by visiting pdac.ca/pdac/programs/e3.html.
All photos must be submitted as digital files. Large photos (greater than 2 megabytes) should be burned on a CD and sent with an entry form to “e3 Photo Contest,” c/o The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, 34 King St. East, 9th floor, Toronto, Ont., M5C 2X8.
Photos smaller than 2 megabytes should be sent to e3photos@pdac.ca with an entry form attached.
The deadline for submission is April 28, 2006.
