PDAC convention set for March

International exploration, including the diamond play, will take centre stage at the 63rd annual convention and trade show of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), scheduled for March 4-8 at Toronto’s Royal York Hotel.

The March 6 keynote session will provide commentaries on current targets and the world’s “hot spots” for exploration. Much of the March 7 program will feature the global search for diamonds.

The March 8 morning program will feature sessions on West Africa and southeast Asia, while the afternoon session will focus on new discoveries and developments around the world.

Convention `95, in addition to discussion sessions and papers on exploration and development in Canada and elsewhere, will offer underground mine tours and a short course on project evaluation and due diligence. The trade show is expected to attract more than 200 exhibitors.

The guest speaker at the Monday luncheon will be Robert Smith, president of American Barrick Resources. John Willson, president of Placer Dome, will speak at the Wednesday luncheon. The premier of the North-west Territories, Nellie Cournoyea, will be the guest speaker at the annual awards banquet. The PDAC is inviting papers for presentation at the convention’s Open Forum, a 3-day session running March 6-8. A speaker will be given 20 minutes to make a presentation, after which there will be a 5-minute question period.

For more information, contact the PDAC at 34 King St. E., 9th Floor, Toronto, Ont. M5C 2X8.
