Drilling by Southern Africa Minerals (SAF-T) at its Caber deposit near Matagami, Que., continues to return significant base metal values.
Hole 32 was sunk 50 metres south of hole 30, which returned 14 metres (true width of 10 metres) of 10% zinc, 0.4% copper and 6 grams silver per tonne. Hole 32 returned 5.1 metres (true width of 3.6 metres) grading 15.5% zinc and 0.7% copper, as well as 10.4 grams silver, including 2 metres grading 20.3% zinc, 1.2% copper and 8 grams silver.
Intercepts recovered from hole 30 and 32 have extended the upper portion of the Caber deposit to vertical depths of 170 and 150 metres, respectively.
Resources at the deposit stand at 1.3 million tonnes grading 5.54% zinc, 1.3% copper, plus silver and gold credits.
Two stepout holes were also drilled: hole 34 defined the southern limit of the deposit, whereas hole 29 cut a shear zone, indicating that the northern limit of the deposit is defined by a fault.
Additional drilling was also conducted on the Caber North zone. Hole 31 intersected one of four massive sulphide lenses known to occur in the zone, returning 16.9 metres grading 0.71% zinc, 0.12% copper and 3.3 grams silver.
The hole also contains magnetite and base metal sulphide stringers. A downhole pulse-electromagnetic survey is being conducted.
Drilling has been suspended as a result of spring breakup, but Southern Africa and partner Noranda (NOR-T), which can earn up to a 70% interest in the property, plan more definition drilling at both sites.
