Encouraged by drilling on their Meliadine property near Rankin Inlet, N.W.T., partners Cumberland Resources (VSE) and Comaplex Resources (TSE) are expanding the program by a further 3,300 ft.
The work is aimed at confirming both grade and structure on the Discovery deposit, as well as testing similar iron formation targets in the immediate area.
The Discovery was last estimated to contain 740,000 tons grading 0.29 oz. gold per ton.
Initial results from the Discovery include 9.9 ft. grading 0.34 oz. gold from hole 95-86.
No less encouraging are initial results from the nearby Pisces zone, with hole 95-87 intersecting 9.2 ft. grading 0.36 oz. gold.
Drilling on the Capricorn area, west of the Discovery zone, encountered wide iron formation intersections with widths of up to 40 ft. Assays are pending.
