Partners Battle Mountain Gold (BMC-T) and Birim Goldfields (BGI-T) have begun reverse-circulation drilling at their Dunkwa gold property in Ghana.
Battle Mountain, which is managing the project on behalf of the joint-venture, will sink between 65 and 70 holes in several previously outlined geochemical anomalies.
Most of the holes will be collared on eight widely spaced fences along strike of the Mampon zone, with the remainder targeting the Mansi West prospect, 30 km to the south.
The program follows the completion of three core holes that tested the down-plunge extent of the Mampon zone. All three intersected the favorable graphitic and gold-bearing structure, with the best result coming from hole 26: 3.83 metres (from 369 metres) grading 3.53 grams gold per tonne. Previous drilling at the Mampon prospect returned up to 16.3 metres of 9.23 grams gold.
Battle Mountain can earn a 65% interest in the 230-sq.-km Dunkwa prospecting licence from Birim by spending US$5 million on exploration over four years.
