Bulk sampling, as well as more exploration and development, is planned for the Beaufor gold project 16 miles northeast of Val d’Or, Que.
The bulk sampling, say 50-50 partners Louvem Mines (TSE) and Aurizon Mines (TSE), is needed for grade control and to determine the final mining method. The companies hope to justify an operation of at least 450 tons per day. Underground work was resumed five months ago and all infrastructure required for production is in place, the partners report.
Mineralization has been followed along a strike length of 500 ft. and to a height of 1,000 ft. Five gold-bearing veins are being probed. Surface drilling indicates that at least three of these veins (the C system) extend to the west for at least an extra 500 ft.
Bulk samples from material extracted for drifts and raises have assayed 0.28 oz. gold per ton.
Because of the erratic behavior of the mineralization, which consists mostly of free gold and small masses of gold-bearing massive sulphides, the companies say development ore yields more accurate values than drilling.
