London-based Pan African Resources (PAF-AIM) has cut significant gold in reverse circulation holes at its Wa gold project, 50 km east of the city of Wa, Ghana.
Assays from seven holes, drilled in the Julie prospect, are highlighted by one hole which cut 8 metres grading 5.26 grams gold per tonne (this included 4 metres grading 8.1 grams gold) at a depth of 13 metres downhole.
Another hole cut 7 metres grading 5.9 grams gold per tonne at a depth of 20 metres downhole. This interval includes 3 metres that graded 10.3 grams gold per tonne.
Five other holes intersected 1-3 metres grading from 1.01-6.16 grams gold per tonne. All holes were drilled at an inclination of 50 degrees. Three of the holes cut more than one interval of mineralization.
About one third of the planned 6,000-metre drill program has been completed; part of this program will test the Collette prospect.
The 304-sq.-km Wa project comprises three exploration licences: Julie, Collette and Josephine.
The project is situated in an area of Birimian greenstones and granites.
The company is also busy testing the West Fair Bride area (about 824 metres of drilling have been completed) at its Manica project in central Mozambique. Assays are pending. Other targets within the exploration licence will also be tested.
The Manica Project is at the east end of the Odzi-Mutare-Manica greenstone belt, part of the Archean Zimbabwe shield.
The exploration licence covers the 10-km-long Mutambarico shear zone, as well as an extensive zone of banded iron formations.
The Manica Project is managed by Pangea Exploration. Pan African Resources has a “first right of refusal” for any Pangea-generated African gold projects.
