Pan African cuts gold in Ghana

London-based Pan African Resources (PAF-L) has intersected significant gold in reverse-circulation holes at the Wa project, 50 km east of the city of the same name in Ghana.

Seven holes were drilled at the Julie prospect, one of which intersected 8 metres grading 5.26 grams gold per tonne (including 4 metres grading 8.1 grams gold) at a down-hole depth of 13 metres. Another cut 7 metres grading 5.9 grams gold at a depth of 20 metres, including 3 metres of 10.3 grams gold. Five other holes intersected 1-3 metres grading 1.01-6.16 grams gold.

All holes were drilled at an inclination of 50. Three of the holes cut more than one interval of mineralization.

Pan African has completed a third of the 6,000-metre drill program.

The 304-sq.-km Wa project is in an area of Birimian greenstones and granites, and, in addition to Julie, comprises the Collette and Josephine prospects.

The company is also busy testing the West Fair Bride deposit (824 metres of drilling have been completed) at the Manica project in central Mozambique. Assays are pending, and Pan African intends to test other targets on the property.

Manica is at the eastern end of the Odzi-Mutare-Manica greenstone belt, part of the Archean Zimbabwe shield. The exploration licence covers the 10-km-long Mutambarico shear zone, as well as an extensive zone of banded iron formations.
