Mining equities fall to earth

The mining sector took a beating over the report period Oct. 13-19, even as the broader market settled only slightly. The TSX composite index fell 65.33 points to 8,720.53.

Vancouver — Pacific Rim Mining (PMU-T) has terminated its option on the La Calera gold project in El Salvador after most of the 39 holes it drilled this year turned out to be duds.



Migoro resource tops 1m oz. gold

Vancouver — The Migoro gold deposit in southwestern Kenya contains about 1.2 million oz., or 65% more than previously thought, according to an independent estimate.
