The latest four holes, part of a program aimed at outlining the deposit at 60-metre intervals, confirm the occurrence of higher grades associated with fault zones.
Hole 66 tested the eastern fault and the southeastern zone, intersecting 18.8 metres grading 0.3% copper and 0.27 gram gold per tonne, followed by a 2.5-metre section of 1.15% copper and 10.55 grams gold.
Hole 63 returned 0.47% copper and 0.16 gram gold over 207.3 metres at a down-hole depth of 138.7 metres, whereas the southernmost hole, no. 64, returned 117.5 metres grading 0.41% copper and 0.14 gram gold. Hole 64 failed to reach the targeted depth as a result of poor ground conditions.
Targeting the southern portion of the deposit, hole 65 cut 179.8 metres averaging 0.3% copper and 0.11 gram gold at 56.4 metres down-hole.
Morrison is part of the larger Hearne Hill property in the province’s Omenica region. Pacific Booker combined Hearne Hill with Noranda’s Morrison project in a joint effort to define an economic copper-gold porphyry system. The Hearne Hill claims adjoin the Morrison property on the east side.
Noranda discovered Morrison in the 1960s, and 95 holes were drilled between 1965 and 1985. Subsequently, the company tabled a resource of 190 million tonnes grading 0.4% copper and 0.2 gram gold. Most of the early holes consisted of small-diameter core, some of which ended in mineralization. These holes were not assayed for gold, molybdenum or silver.
Pacific Booker believes that the larger drill core, combined with better core recoveries, could yield higher copper-gold grades, and that any minable reserves could be supplemented with those of neighbouring Hearne Hill.
The drill-indicated resource stands at 4.2 million tonnes grading 0.6% copper and 0.2 gram gold, including a higher-grade section of 2.1 million tonnes averaging 0.8% copper and 0.25 gram gold. At last count, the drill-indicated resource on the Morrison property was 123 million tonnes grading 0.38% copper and 0.2 gram gold.
