Otish Energy starts drilling in Otish Basin

Now that its new name is official, Otish Energy (KRC-V) is plunging ahead with a 2,000-metre diamond drill program on its Gateau uranium property in the Otish basin of Quebec.

The former Kakanda Resources started drilling at the end of March on the C block of the Gateau property in search of fault-controlled uranium mineralization.

Gateau is next to Cameco‘s (CCO-T, CCJ-N) Camie River property where in 2007 a 13-metre intersection grading 1.5% U3O8 was reported near Gordon Lake.

In February, Otish Energy set up a winterized camp allowing the company to mobilize two drills in March.

The company hopes to locate the principal structural features and the depth of the unconformity at Gateau. A technical report was completed on the Gateau property in July 2007, shortly after it was acquired by the company.

Gateau, which consists of four claims, lies in the western part of the Otish Basin and along its southern contact with the Archean basement rocks. The property straddles an unconformable contact with the underlying granitic complex.

Otish Energy says the property offers good potential for classic unconformity-type uranium mineralization both above and below the unconformity surface.

In total, the company holds a 100% interest in 548 sq. km in the Otish Basin and another 50% interest in 650 sq. km.
