Milling operations have resumed at Orofino Resources’ Scadding mill near Sudbury, Ont. The operation was suspended on Oct 14 due to a damaged ball mill. A replacement unit has been installed and tuned up, Orofino says.
Mining of the Scadding deposit is expected to be completed by year- end. At that time, the mill will have a surface ore stockpile of approximately 125,000 tons — sufficient for a 2.5-year milling life at a rate of 4,200 tons per month. The mine will produce at a rate of 10,000 oz of gold per year.
This will be the second small deposit brought to production by Orofino. A third deposit at the original Orofino mine site in the Swayze area 60 miles southwest of Timmins, is being given production consideration pending results from an underground exploration program.
