Orion drills in Argentina

Drilling is being accelerated at the Agua Rica porphyry

copper-gold-silver-Molybdenum deposit in the northwestern Argentine province of Catamarca.

Northern Orion Explorations (NNO-T) reports that three extra diamond drills, in addition to the two already on site, will be moved to the property as soon as clearance is obtained from customs.

Meanwhile, the company has released assay results from holes 110 to 116. Hole 110 was drilled at the northern edge of Mi Vida; hole 114 was drilled at the southern edge; hole 116 was an infill hole at Mi Vida; and holes 111, 112, 113 and 115 were also infill holes, drilled in the Trampeadero area.

Results are as follows: Hole 110 returned 445 metres grading 0.43% copper and 0.021% molybdenum, as well as 0.25 gram gold and 1.8 grams silver per tonne; hole 111 returned 316 metres of 0.37% copper, 0.013% moly, 0.15 gram gold and 2.4 grams silver; hole 112 intersected 297 metres of 0.69% copper, 0.016% moly, 0.23 gram gold and 4 grams silver, including 118 metres of 1.26% copper, 0.022% moly, 0.25 gram gold and 3.6 grams silver; hole 113 returned 305 metres of 0.43% copper, 0.009% moly, 0.29 gram gold and 2.6 grams silver; hole 114 returned 110 metres grading 0.56% copper, 0.067% moly, 0.17 gram gold and 1.8 grams silver; hole 115 intersected 382 metres of 0.39% copper, 0.008% moly, 0.14 gram gold and 3.3 grams silver, including 62 metres of 1.07% copper, 0.006% moly, 0.09 gram gold and 1.9 grams silver; and hole 116 returned 447 metres grading 0.51% copper, 0.013% moly, 0.24 gram gold and 1.9 grams silver, including 66 metres of 1% copper, 0.019% moly, 0.37 gram gold and 1.7 grams silver.

The 1997 program includes 25,000 metres of infill and stepout drilling at the Mi Vida, Quebrada Minas and Trampeadero zones.

The 5,000-ha property is held jointly by Northern Orion and BHP Copper, with 30% and 70% interests, respectively. The partners are undertaking a US$45-Million work program towards completion of a final feasibility study.

Agua Rica is said to be the first major enriched copper deposit discovered in the country.
