A drilling program is under way at the Castle Copper property in Arizona’s Yavapai Cty. about 50 miles northwest of Phoenix, Orcana Resources (VSE) reports.
The company describes the deposit as having a flat, horizontal supergene enriched copper (chalcocite) blanket averaging 70 ft. in thickness to a depth of about 2,000 ft. Reserves, the company says, are estimated at 30-40 million tons grading 1.6% copper and 0.05% molybdenite.
Consulting firm Watts, Griffis and McOuat has completed a preliminary economic evaluation for the project.
Being drilled are two vertical holes (between two holes previously drilled 1,500 ft. apart) to confirm, in part, the grade and continuity of the supergene copper blanket, and to test below the blanket where the company says a wide zone of hypogene copper- molybdenum as well as a possible second chalcocite-enriched zone have already been outlined.
