Open cut blast planned by Wye

A stripping program has been completed on the Saganaga Lake property owned by Wye Resources. Located 140 km west of Thunder Bay, Ont., the property covers several gold showings associated with quartz-carbonate veins.

Work in progress includes blast hole drilling on the Main showings from where a bulk sample of vein material will be mined. Wye hopes that the main zone vein will be amenable to a small scale mining operation which would process ore from an open cut. Three other gold showings are also being stripped.

Wye’s consulting geologist feels all the showings are associated with a zone striking for more than 1,000 ft. Drilling by a previous operator on the zones in 1984 cut several higher grading sections. These include 14.1 ft grading 0.298 oz gold per ton, 8.2 ft grading 0.26 oz gold and an 8.6-ft section assaying 0.27 oz gold per ton.
