Ontario seminar on Indian lands

The current state of mining and prospecting on Indian lands was the topic of a recent seminar hosted by the Sault and District Prospectors Association. The lands are administered under the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850.

Although several mines have been developed in Ontario’s Sault Ste. Marie area, lands administered by the federal Department of Indian Affairs are shunned by prospectors and mining companies.

The association hopes to have a better understanding of the problems involved.
