It noted that economic potential, measured from the start of mineral exploration, carries an anticipated net present value of $80 million fo r each economic de posit discovered in Ontario.
The researchers said that Ontario has a strong competitive position in the shield region and in Canada because the newly-discovered Hemlo and Kidd Creek depos its are within the province’s boundaries. The possibility that any exploration p rogram can lead to another multi-billion dollar discovery of this calibre provid es a great investment incentive, they added.
