Ontario leads trade mission to Mexico

The Ontario government has joined the province’s mining equipment industry to push for a bigger share of Mexico’s $1.6-billion mining machinery market.

The Trade Team Ontario Mission, as it is called, comprises the province’s leading trade agency, Ontario Exports, as well as the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines and eight private companies. Together, they are working to make Mexicans aware of Ontario’s exploration potential and investment opportunities.

The group’s members were recently active at the Expo Mineria 2001 trade show in Acapulco, where they secured local agents and distributors and met with potential buyers.

The 28-booth Canada Pavilion featured 17 mining equipment manufacturers from Ontario. The exhibit was organized by the Canadian Association of Mining Equipment and Services for Export.

Expo Mineria attracted about 2,000 delegates from around the world.
