On the Move (February 01, 1990)

James Sackston has been appointed to the position of vice-president, sales and marketing, of Landry Filtration Products. The company is based in Concord, Ont.

Joining Dresser’s parts division in Broadview, Ill., is Morris Iversen. As manager of parts-marketing and sales, Iversen will be responsible for marketing the company’s construction equipment in North America. He comes to Dresser from Caterpillar, where he served in a variety of parts-marketing positions for the past 14 years.

Sandvik Rock Tools has announced a management team for its new marketing and sales subsidiary, Sandvik Rock Tools North America. It consists of Gunnar Anell, president; Fred Schmelzle, sales manager, Canada; and Arrien Westhuis, general manager, U.S. The company is based in Montreal, Que.

Ronald Chrzan has been named manufacturing manager for Simplicity Engineering, a Lukens company based in Durand, Mich. He joined Simplicity in 1964 as a layout man. Previously he was plant supervisor.

Daniel Monchak has been named sales manager, North America, for the mining division of Morgardshammar Inc. of Denver, Colo. Monchak will be responsible for all sales and marketing activities for the mining division in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. He brings to the job more than 11 years marketing experience in the mining industry.

The American Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (formerly the Society of Mining Engineers) has bestowed its Distinguished Member Award on Dr. Raj Singhal. In Canada since 1975, Singhal has worked for mining and oil-sands companies and has spent the past six years with the federal government. He is currently head of advanced mining technology at the Coal Research laboratories in Devon, Alta. Last year, he was similarly recognized by the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, which presented him with a District Proficiency Medal for his significant contributions to mining through applied research and technology transfer.

Alan Buchanan has been appointed area manager, Western Canada, for Gardner-Denver Canada. He has returned to this country after being engaged in several facets of operations for five years at the company’s headquarters in Roanoke, Va. He is now based in Richmond, B.C., and his area of management includes: Saskatchewan, Alberta, B.C., the Yukon and the Northwest Territories. He had previously provided support to the mining and construction industry for more than 20 years as a special applications consultant with Gardner-Denver.
