The other contender is the South Crofty tin mine in Cornwall, England. The present mine property takes in what were formerly separate properties. It is probably true to say that mining on one or more of these properties has been almost continuous for something approaching 300 years. (See Cornwall’s Central Mines, two volumes, also by T. A.
