Vancouver – The first hole of an on going drill program over the 2G zone on the Altintepe project in Turkey has returned 2.77 grams gold per tonne over 93 metres.
Odyssey Resources (ODX-V) is following up encouraging drill intercepts cut by Teck Cominco (TEK-T). The junior’s first hole was collared 70 metres west of hole 34, which returned 76 metres grading 3.4 grams gold.
Moving 65 metres to the southwest, hole 2 tested the southern limit of the zone and intersected 11 metres of oxidized andesite porphyry. Assay results are pending.
The rig is now drilling the northeastern extension of this mineralized zone over a 700-metre strike length.
Odyssey is looking to outline a bulk mineable oxide gold system, where Teck completed 54 holes, cutting both oxide and sulfide mineralization. The major explored the 100-sq.-km property from 1995 to 1997, identifying nine target areas. The oxidation depths vary from 10-to-120 metres. The best drill results include 2.4 grams gold per tonne over 123.6 metres and 5.9 grams gold over 12 metres.
Situated immediately northwest of Odyssey’s Lucky Star gold project, Altintepe hosts the same volcanic rocks and is considered prospective for both bulk-tonnage and high-grade gold deposits.
