OBITUARY Walter Waterston

A news man who devoted his entire life to that profession, including a 10-year stint with The Northern Miner, Walter (Walt) Waterston died recently at his home in Unionville, Ont., where he had lived since 1950. He was 77. At 15, Waterston started with a daily newspaper in his native Scotland. Two years later, he emigrated to Canada, working for Broadcast News/Canadian Press until retirement at 65. He then joined The Miner as staff writer and did page layout until 1988. Waterston then joined Unionville’s Weekender as copy editor and edited a seniors’ magazine, posts he held almost until his death.
