OBITUARY — Ted Arnold

A metallurgical engineer and part owner of the J&L mining property in British Columbia, Theodore (Ted) Arnold died recently in New Jersey. He was 89.

A native of Vancouver and a graduate of the University of British Columbia, Arnold once served as the president of three mining companies simultaneously. He was a longtime member of the old Engineers’ Club in Vancouver. Over the years, he shared ownership of the J&L gold and base metal property with different partners, the current partner being Hecla Mining. During the Second World War, he aided Allied forces through his invention of a machine that reduced the time required to fill Navy ammunition shells. Prior to moving to Oakhurst, N.J., more than 30 years ago, he was a resident of Bryn Mawr, Pa.
