A prospector for 49 years, Kervin McDonough has died at his St. Catharines, Ont., home. He was 70.
A member of the McDonough clan of explorationists, he worked in Ireland, the U.S. and extensively throughout Canada. He was instrumental in reviving interest in the Half-Mile Lake deposit near Bathurst, N.B.
During the first half of this century, the McDonough family was involved in countless ventures throughout northern Ontario and Quebec. It had close involvement with the Madsen Red Lake mine and the Cobalt camp during the Second World War.
A township bears the family name in the Red Lake area of northwestern Ontario.
