OBITUARY John Black

John Black, a well known mining executive, died recently in North Vancouver. He lived his early days in St. Louis, Miss., and attended Queen’s University before joining Rio Algom in the early years of the Elliot Lake camp.

Subsequently, he worked for Patino Mining Corp. in Chibougamau, Que., where he was responsible for purchasing and the introduction of new cost accounting methods. He also worked for Molycorp in New Mexico before moving to Vancouver where he became an administrative executive of several mining companies.
