OBITUARY — James Bristow

Geologist and British Columbia-based consultant James Bristow died recently at Kamloops, B.C. He was 62.

After graduating from the University of British Columbia in 1957 with a degree in geology and physics, Bristow joined Placer Development where he worked as a mine geologist in Salmo, B.C. He went on to become chief geologist at Craigmont Mines and later worked for Placer as an exploration geologist in South Africa, New Brunswick and central British Columbia. In 1978, he joined the provincial government’s exploration incentive program and three years later started a consulting practice which he continued until his retirement in 1990.

A native of Kamloops, Bristow was a member of the British Columbia Association of Professional Engineers, the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, the British Columbia & Yukon Chamber of Mines and the Association of Exploration Geochemists.
