Ian Bayer, former president and chief executive officer of Battle Mountain Gold and Hemlo Gold Mines, has died. He was 62.
Bayer was born in Sydney, N.S., in 1939 and graduated from Acadia University. He went on to receive his designation as a chartered accountant and spent 32 years in the mining industry. In addition to his posts at Battle Mountain Gold and Hemlo Gold Mines, he presided over Kerr-Addison Mines.
