Obituary Harry Bell

Harry Bell, a long-time mine recorder for the Ontario government, has died at his home at Mine Centre, Ont., at the age of 71.

Born in Toronto, Mr Bell moved to Mine Centre in 1936, where he was an assayer for Olive Gold Mines. He then moved to Geraldton, Ont., where for four years he was employed as a mine assayer.

After serving in World War II as an armourer with the Royal Canadian Air Force, he returned to Fort Frances, Ont., as an Ontario government mine recorder. He continued that work at Kenora, later in Sioux Lookout, and then retired, at Mine Centre, in 1978.

Mr Bell is survived by his wife, Rose, sons Harry Jr and John, and a daughter Laurie.
