Well-known mining engineer Tilmer (Tim) Waterland of Delta, B.C., died recently. He was 90.
His career involved positions at a number of mines in British Columbia, including Copper Mountain, Anyox, Premier, and Britannia where he was assistant general manager. He was employed at the Upper Canada mine near Kirkland Lake, Ont., before retiring in 1966.
Waterland was a life member of the Association of Professional Engineers of B.C., and a life member of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.
His son, Tom Waterland, is a former provincial cabinet minister and current president of the Mining Association of British Columbia.
