Nuinsco remains bullish on Beauchastel project

Nuinsco Resources and Seadrift International remain bullish on the prospects for their Aldermac project at Beauchastel Twp. near Rouyn/Noranda, Que.

The joint venture partners are encouraged by results of drilling on hole 87-17 located about 1,200 ft southeast of the old Aldermac copper mine shaft.

According to Nuinsco, the massive sulphide section of drill core from this hole measured 36 ft carrying a weighted average grade of 1.74% copper, 6.81% zinc, 1.1 oz silver per ton and 0.01 oz gold.

In addition, the intensely altered stringer zone adjacent to the massive sulphide interval averaged 3.14% copper, 0.3% zinc, 1.32 oz silver and 0.05 oz gold over 52.2 ft.

When added to the stringer zone, the massive section produced 88.2 ft of continuous ore from 977 ft to 1065.2 ft. says Nuinsco President Douglas Hume.

Since assay results from hole 87-17 were released, deeper drilling to a depth of 1,667 ft has produced an 8-ft section averaging 4.75% zinc with lower copper values.

A second drilling rig is being moved on to the 87-17 area to accelerate testing for on-strike and down- dip extensions of the ore zone.

According to Mr Hume, Nuinsco geologists say the ore intersected in hole 87-17 bears strong similarities to other Noranda region massive sulphide orebodies.

“A couple more good holes would warrant going underground,” said Mr Hume.
