NSR Resources spends $4.4 million at Malartic project

NSR Resources of Toronto has completed pre-engineering and tendering for the 1987 underground work on its Rand Malartic project in Fourniere Twp., Que.

A $4.4-million exploration program to be completed by February, 1988, will include approximately 25,000 ft of surface and underground drilling. The program also includes excavation of three sublevels within the 67 zone reserves for grade/continuity confirmation and for the collection of a bulk sample.

The company says a field project office has been established in Val d’Or, Que., by technical crews which mobilized into the field during July and field work is well under way.

A tightly-spaced property-wide geophysical survey is at the halfway stage and the surface drill is on its third hole. Of 1,954 ft drilled so far, two holes probed a porphyry unit parallel to and 50 ft to the north of the 67 zone.

NSR says the holes were drilled to investigate geology and ground conditions in the vicinity of this zone where recoverable reserves stand at 66,700 tons grading 0.363 oz gold per ton between the 350-ft and 600-ft levels.

According to NSR which has a 60.98% direct and indirect interest in the property, reserves are open at depth and calculated from the results of tightly spaced underground definition drilling completed during 1986.

The company says most of the reserves will be accessible from existing underground workings once the 1987 work is completed.
