An 800-metre drilling program is scheduled to get under way at the Sears Lake property in north- central New Brunswick this month. Geophysical surveys have outlined several anomalies similar to those that host massive sulphide deposits in the Bathurst camp, says NovaGold Resources (TSE).
The anomalies are coincident with a strong geochemical signature covering a 1,000-metre strike length. NovaGold has selected 11 base metal targets including resistivity lows, chargeability highs and lead-zinc soil anomalies.
The Sears Lake property was previously thought to be underlain by granite, but NovaGold says the results of its surveys suggest that the area is underlain by sedimentary and volcanic rocks of the Tetagouche Group.
In addition to Sears Lake, NovaGold has an interest in 102 contiguous claims along strike.
