Junior NovaGold Resources (NRI-T) has drilled another five new holes at its Murray Brook polymetallic property in northern New Brunswick.
Each hole was collared to test the down-plunge extension of a lead-zinc-rich zone intersected in a first phase of drilling (T.N.M., April 6-12/98).
Three of the holes, 98-8, 10 and 11, intersected massive sulphide mineralization, extending the zone 85.3 metres down plunge. Assays are still pending for hole 13, which was drilled between holes 5A and 10.
The best results came from hole 98-10, which intersected 43.1 metres (226.5-269.6 metres) averaging 5.7% zinc, 2.3% lead, 0.31% copper, 1.44 grams gold and 85.52 grams silver per tonne. Within that interval, 14.6 metres (249-263.6 metres) graded 2.92 grams gold, while 13 metres (253-266 metres) graded 4.06% lead and 10% zinc.
Hole 9, which failed to intersect any mineralization, was drilled 76.2 metres down plunge from hole 8. However, the company says a geophysical anomaly was detected to the east during a downhole electromagnetic survey.
Drilling is currently focused on a copper-rich zone to the east.
