Encouraging preliminary results have been reported by Norwood Exploration and Oz Exploration in their exploration program at the Exxeter gold property in Vauquelin Twp., southeast of Val d’Or, Que.
Norwood and Oz are earning a combined 50% interest, by spending $1 million on exploration work on the property before February, 1989, from Exxeter Resources. The companies say they plan to spend that total before February, 1988.
Work to date has consisted of stripping, detailed mapping, sampling, geophysical surveys and drilling. The companies say several promising anomalies have been underlined.
Work was concentrated on and around a previously defined auriferous zone. Grab samples on zone 1, which is characterized by quartz veins associated with variable quantities of sulphides and tourmaline, gave high values. Among the better drilling results from zone 1 was 0.44 oz gold per ton across 2.8 ft.
At least two other mineralized zones have been identified on the property. A drill hole in zone 2 cut 0.16 oz across 11.8 ft, while a hole in zone 3 returned 0.33 oz across 2.7 ft.
