Encouraging gold values have been intersected in the first two drill holes of an exploration campaign on the Bargold property in Barraute Twp., 30 miles north of Val d’Or, Que., Northway Explorations reports.
The project is a joint venture involving Northway and Aur Resources, which is the operator. Northway may earn a 40% interest in the property by spending $2 million on exploration work during a 3-year period.
Hole No 4901-1 intersected 0.11 oz gold per ton across 7 ft, including 0.14 oz across 5 ft, while hole No 4901-2 cut 0.06 oz across 23 ft, including 0.23 oz across 5 ft.
Northway says the gold values are associated with quartz-carbonate- sericite-fuchsite alteration within a major 200-ft-wide shear zone mineralized with disseminated pyrite. Sytematic drilling is continuing on 200-ft centres; 20,000 ft of drilling is planned for the current phase of exploration work.
