M. R. Brown, publisher of The Northern Miner, will be the after- dinner speaker at the Toronto Geological Discussion Group’s annual Christmas banquet this year.
Brown, whose career in mining dates back to summers spent working underground at the Lake Shore gold mine in Kirkland Lake during his years at the University of Toronto where he graduated in 1938 with a degree in mining engineering, will talk about “some of the saints and sinners” he has known in the business.
Members and non-members are welcome to attend the banquet being held Dec 2 at the Engineers’ Club of Toronto, 105 Victoria St. The dinner is usually well attended by exploration geologists, who form a large part of the discussion group’s membership, and by a good contingent from the brokerage industry.
Cost of the dinner is $27.50 including wine. A cash bar opens at 5:30 p.m. with dinner beginning at 7 p.m. There will be door prizes as well.
Tickets are available only during business hours from the receptionist at Conwest Exploration, 95 Wellington St. W., Suite 2000, Toronto, Ont. M5J 2N7 (phone 362-6721). Payment is by cheque only made payable to “T.G.D.G.”
