Northern Lion Gold (NL-V) has received encouraging results from the first four holes on a drilling program at its Haveri gold project in southwestern Finland.
Northern Lion is exploring Haveri, a former producing mine, for extensions to the known deposit based on some new structural interpretations. The four holes tested northward and southward structural extensions of a model of multiple tabular zones (the “Mine Deeps Zone”) of silicification in basalt host rocks, which parallel a fold plane.
One hole north of the zone cut two mineralized intersections, one grading 5.6 grams gold per tonne over 41 metres and the other 7.5 grams per tonne over 18.5 metres. A second hole cut three zones, running 5.9 grams over 9 metres, 1.5 grams over 35 metres, and 3 grams over 34.5 metres.
To the south of the zone, two holes returned intersections grading around 1 gram over 30 metres, with one of the holes intersecting a second, shallower interval that averaged 5.6 grams per tonne over 7.1 metres.
Structural information suggests the zone extends further to the southwest, toward an area where a train of gold grains was found in glacial till.
