Underground sampling of historic workings in the main Venturina target zone in northern Mexico has yielded gold-silver values higher than those reported from previous surface samples.
Situated in the Sierra Madre Occidental province, the property occupies a portion of the historic Dios de Guia gold-silver district in Chihuahua state. While numerous small mine workings exist on the property, historic production was not extensive.
The company is targeting Venturina for its bulk-tonnage potential. The main target has been traced over a strike length of 1,500 metres and a width ranging from 15 to 100 metres. Much of the structure is said to be concealed by a thin colluvial cover. More than 400 chip and channel samples from the Venturina zone returned an average grade of 1.67 grams gold and 39 grams silver.
Several trenches in the northwestern portion of the zone were sampled along continuous, 5-metre channels. Results included 20 metres averaging 1.73 grams gold and 18.2 grams silver, 10 metres averaging 2.77 grams gold and 17.1 grams silver, and 10 metres averaging 1.08 grams gold and 12.2 grams silver. Northair says trenching was limited by the hard nature of the silicified rock, as well as by the topography, which dips perpendicular to the strike of mineralization.
The company has begun an initial 10-hole program of reverse-circulation drilling in order to test portions of the main Venturina target. The holes will be spaced an average of 40 metres apart over a strike length of 410 metres. Results are expected in December.
