Norbeau plans deep drilling at Chibougamau

Norbeau Mines plans to drill six deep holes from surface on its Chibougamau property in northwestern Quebec to test the continuity of the Main and No 4 veins below the 1,000-ft level.

Cost of the program is estimated at $250,000.

For five years in the 1960s the Norbeau mine produced 419,000 tons of ore averaging 0.40 oz gold per ton. The company, 40% owned by Northgate Exploration, believes there is good potential for additional ore reserves below the 1,000- ft level. A 3-compartment shaft exists to 1,530 ft with eight of 10 levels developed by 15,000 ft of lateral workings.
