Noranda employees accept Geco offer

Employees at Noranda Minerals’ Geco division at Manitouwadge, Ont., recently voted 79% in favor of ratifying a new 2-year labor contract. Under the terms of the agreement, wages paid out by the Noranda (TSE) subsidiary will increase by 12.4% over the two years. The contract also provides improvements to the pension plan and enhancements to the early retirement provisions. As well, improvements were made to other benefit plans.

Noranda’s Geco division, which employs 492 people, operates a zinc-copper-lead-silver mine and a 4,000-ton-per-day concentrator.
